On November 12 2025, the Trump Administration issued new health guidelines for immigrant visa applicants to Department of State officials at US Embassies worldwide.

Immigrant visa applicants must still provide accredited health check and evidence of required vaccinations at the US Embassy interview.

However, Consular Officers must now consider new health guidelines when approving immigrant visas.

Certain medical conditions—including, but not limited to – cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, cancers, diabetes, metabolic diseases, neurological diseases, and mental health conditions as well as obesity and age are conditions visa officers should consider, along with the health of dependent family members and potential future scenarios.

The priority is conditions which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in health care.

Consular officers must decide: “Does the applicant have adequate financial resources to cover the costs of such care over his entire expected lifespan without seeking public cash assistance or long-term institutionalization at government expense?”

If you or any of your family members applying with Isaford Immigration have concerns about your health, please let us know as soon as possible.
