After announcing their plan to join in May 2025, Cyprus is set to join the Schengen Zone in early 2026.

It has never been a better time to apply for a Greece Golden Visa to take advantage of the Schengen Zone membership, providing visa free access across 27 EU nations.

Cyprus is undergoing a final round of assessments by a team of roughly 25 European Commission evaluators as the country seeks to join the Schengen Zone.

The EU evaluators are conducting the last set of checks to ensure Cyprus has met its Schengen Zone obligations and are reviewing Cyprus’:

  • Operational and policing systems.
  • Internal security framework.
  • Measures related to personal data protection and human rights.
  • Compliance with EU standards on transparency, governance and fundamental rights.

Schengen membership would coincide with Cyprus’ rotating Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026.

If Cyprus succeeds, it will become the first new Schengen member since Croatia joined in 2023, completing the passport-free zone’s expansion to the EU’s south-eastern periphery.

Cyprus Golden Visa:

  • 28,660 Permanent Residency Visas (Golden Visas) have been approved since 2014.
  • Cyprus Schengen Membership Set for 2026 providing Cyprus Golden Visa holders visa-free access to 27 EU nations.
  • The longest established, most stable & most popular pathway to Permanent Residency in Europe.
  • Exceptional tax benefits for PR holders.
  • A wide range of property investment opportunities eligible for Permanent Residence with early applicants to benefit most from Cyprus’ Schengen Membership.
